Radar and laser speed detection are methods used by law enforcement to write more speeding tickets. If you find yourself in a car that lends itself to being driven fast, or if you’re just occasionally in a rush on the road, at Progressive Audio we can install radar and laser detectors that alert you to slow down. This means avoiding tickets and safer driving.
Radar and laser detectors we sell and install are legal for use in the State of Oregon. Please note that use of radar detectors on commercial vehicles is prohibited in the State of Oregon.
Radar detectors
We offer many radar detector options that provide coverage for both the front and rear of your vehicle. As Oregon State law enforcement agencies use a combination of X, K and Ka band radar speed detection equipment, you will be comforted to learn that our radar detection systems cover all those radar bands. The technology in our X band detection avoids the false alerts from automatic doors, such as those at supermarkets so you are more likely to react to legitimate alerts. In addition, most Oregon law enforcement uses an ‘instant on’ feature that makes distance coverage of your radar detector even more important because their equipment is not always visible to the radar detector in your vehicle and can easily catch speeding drivers by surprise. Perhaps you’ve already experience this.
While we offer many options, our most popular systems are remote-mounted (hidden) radar detection systems. These offer the greatest range and coverage of front and rear radar signals with the discrete benefit of a hidden installation. Warning signals can be customized with lighting and sounds that are on a small display we install wherever easily visible, yet discretely placed. For some vehicles we even offer an interface that allows the radar detector’s information and warnings to display in the vehicle’s electronic instrument cluster (Cadillac CTS-V and Escalade, Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, Maserati, etc.).
Laser detectors
Laser speed detection is used by every county in Oregon. This means there’s a high probability you could be missing an opportunity to detect their equipment if all you have is a radar detector. Adding a laser detector system or functionality to your vehicle ensures you have the most comprehensive detection coverage to assist you with alerts of law enforcement speed detection systems.
Laser is also sometimes referred to as LIDAR on some laser speed detection products. It’s the same technology. All law enforcement systems require a specific point on the front of the vehicle on which they ‘lock’ the laser beam. From that target, their equipment calculates vehicle speed. Our laser detection systems are also available in remote-mounted (hidden) configurations and can be easily combined with the radar detection as a complete package.
Laser diffusers
As an added measure of insuring an impending speeding violation, we also offer laser diffusion systems that install on the front of the car, virtually undetectable to the eye. These help to diffuse the area on which the law enforcement laser beam ‘locks in’ to compute the vehicle’s speed. This can be an additional benefit to driving on laser patrolled roads and highways where hills or changing elevation may make the laser invisible to the detection system until you’re very much in its range. The diffuser is a secondary measure of safety to alert you to slow down.
Whatever your needs, it’s best to contact our expert system designers at Progressive Audio to determine what is the most up-to-date and effective detection solution for your specific driving styles and vehicle.
